this is a similar discussion to the marijuana legalization thread. should prostitution be legalized? should it remain illegal? if it were legal, what stipulations should be placed on it?

I feel that since it is your choice, you should do what you want or need with your life and if that includes prostitution, so be it. It should be legal... however, since this affects society from the standpoint of disease like AIDS and other STDs, it should be done in an organized manner with a registration and places for regular disease checks.

i'll even add a few things to your point. legalized prostitution should be disallowed in certain areas. keep it so far away from schools, for safety reasons. the prostitutes should be checked regularily for different diseases. maybe those that frequent the facilities should be required to have certain checks & balances placed on themselves, as well. part of it would be for the safety & well being of the prostitutes, as well as other "clients".
perhaps one thing that would be required is a special type of business license. those with a license can legally perform the services.

I like the idea of a business license for that. Keeps things regulated and legal without being micromanaged.
